Art is my hobbie, my only talent. And I'm guessing that's the same for you guys too, this being an art website and all.

So, I'm guessing also, that you, like me, continuously produce artwork and will always look for some kind of acknowledgement or praise. If you live with your parent(s) then you'll know they are the easiest target to show your work to.

But if you're continuously producing artwork and they're continuously having to judge it, the novelty of your hobby is going to wear off, right?

Right.

SKIP TO THE END. It bloody annoys when I show my mum a piece of artwork I've done that I really like, and I ask her if she likes it and she goes, "mm".

My mum does this as well, but she's generally like that anyway. She just lives in her own little bubble. When my dad sees my artwork, he usually comments on it and I really appreciate it because it encourages me to draw more. When I show my art to my mother she either just ignores me, or says the ever so irritating; "Did you trace that?" line. But she doesn't say it in a complimentary way, she says it in a way as if to say; "You're not capable of drawing that. You MUST have traced it."

Pisses me off, it does. But thankfully I have a rather creative dad who was interested in art when he was younger and appreciates it more.

Lestat: Have you suffered in my absence?
Louis: It was pure hell. Each risk you take hurts me. But that is my concern and fault.
Lestat: Why do you love me?
Louis: You know, you've always known.

Yes please :D

Everyone at school knows me for being the art kid, you know? But sometimes the praise annoys me, then I get home and I don't get any praise from mum and that annoys me too!! MAH MIND, IT BE FRUSTRATINGZ.

If it helps my mum says: "Yeah, it's good"

I then go: "Well, what bit is good? Can you tell what it's supposed to be? Do you think the nose/feet/colour/position is right?"

She replies: " You know I know nothing about art, why do you always ask me?"

I say: "You have eyes don't you? You've been looking at stuff longer than I have! Just tell me if anything doesn't look right!"

She shouts: "I don't know, I've told you this a hundred times... STOP ASKING ME!"

It descends into an arguement quite rapidly.

I actually don't know why I ask her. But I always do.
